Black and White... This theme started to emerge at market. I expect we will see more of it in the fall. I have some mixed feelings about this trend - I naturally gravitate towards color BUT I think this trend can be done well when mixed with different textures and patterns. The vignette above with the rich burl wood coffee table and pillows from Century Furniture - is a perfect example of this trend done perfectly. It's very fresh and I think could look very chic in a downtown condo.
At Currey and Company this vignette was a show stopper. The red and yellow accents add to the primary shapes - it's so mod. I'm not sure I'm cool enough for it but I want to be invited to this home for a fabulous party.
These lamps from Couture Lamps are a realistic way to do this trend. It is an easy way to update a room and stay current. I love their lamps in any color combination.
Unexpected for Dana Gibson is her new Bertrams Accent Table and pillow. When I think of Dana, I think of COLOR but I think that these items in a black color way are stunning.
This lamp from Mitzi is is a modern take on a retro idea for sure! Its quirky design would add such personality to any room.
These last groupings of Black and White with gold accents from Sagebrook Home- have a whole different feel with a tribal pattern and texture - It definitely is adding glamor.
I know this Black and White trend is a little outside of my (and if you are a long time reader - probably yours too) comfort zone. BUT I think there is real merit in knowing what is happening in the larger Interior Design trends and if you fall in love with a black and white piece knowing how you can easily incorporate it into you home. So I gotta know... what do you think? Can you see yourself adding some black and white into your home?
